What can travel in our taxi without a passenger

On a courier ride you can send luggage, documents and papers, keys or small parcels. The upper limit is not set by WEISS.TAXI but by Austrian law, the Gelegenheitsverkehrs-Gesetz 1996 (GelverkG): a taxi licence also covers carrying goods on their own, with no passenger on board, as long as one person can carry them without technical aids (§ 3(1) no. 3 GelverkG). Anything one person cannot carry that way is not covered by a taxi licence. On the phone, we go through exactly what is being sent.

Luggage — suitcases and bags without a passenger

Your luggage can travel in our taxi on its own: suitcases, travel bags or rucksacks, within the same limit as any courier ride — as long as one person can carry them without technical aids. We collect the luggage in person and hand it over at the destination to the person you name.

• Suitcases and bags from your accommodation to Krems station, or from Krems station to your accommodation
• Luggage from one accommodation to the next in the region, while you make your own way there without it
• Luggage left behind — a suitcase still at your accommodation, for instance: we bring it to you

Documents, keys, small parcels — for example

• The spare key for your flat, your office or your holiday home
• Signed papers that need to go to another office or to a lawyer
• A small parcel for family or friends in the next village
• Keys or papers left behind at your hotel, at a Heurigen (wine tavern) or with friends

How a courier ride by taxi works

1. 01You call us and give us the pickup address, the destination address, your preferred pickup time, what needs to be carried and who will receive it at the destination.
2. 02We agree the price with you on the phone before the taxi sets off.
3. 03We collect the item in person at the pickup address.
4. 04The taxi takes it straight to the destination address.
5. 05There we hand it over in person to the person you named.

Why courier rides are not bound by a taxi tariff

For taxi rides, the provincial governor (Landeshauptmann) can set binding tariffs by regulation (§ 14(1) GelverkG). By law, such a regulation never applies to courier rides — rides that carry only goods which can be carried without technical aids (§ 14(1a) no. 7 GelverkG). So no tariff sets the price of a courier ride; we agree it with you in advance.

Where we collect and deliver

The pickup and destination addresses do not have to be in the same place — an item can be collected in Langenlois and handed over in Dürnstein, for example. Our service area shows which places we cover. If one of the two addresses is outside it, ask us anyway — we will discuss on the phone whether we can take the ride.
