Landhaus Bacher sits on Südtiroler Platz in the centre of Mautern an der Donau, on the south bank of the Wachau World Heritage region. Lisl Wagner-Bacher opened the house in 1979; today chef Thomas Dorfer and sommelière Susanne Dorfer-Bacher carry the family business on. The kitchen builds on classic French foundations with modern, Mediterranean and Asian influences, and the jams, sauces and stocks are made in house. The restaurant has a garden and several dining rooms, and a hotel belongs to it — if you stay the night, you only need us one way.
There by road, not over the bridge
We collect you at home, at your hotel, at Krems railway station or at the river pier and take you right to the door. The historic Stein–Mautern Danube bridge is closed to cars; our drivers take the road route to the south bank every day — you do not have to think about it.
