Schloss Gobelsburg in the Kamptal
Schloss Gobelsburg stands in the Kamptal village of the same name, which belongs to the municipality of Langenlois. The castle is first recorded in 1074. In the 16th century it was rebuilt as a four-winged Renaissance complex, which the architect Joseph Munggenast remodelled in baroque style in 1725; the castle chapel holds a side-altar painting by Kremser Schmidt. Since 1740 the castle has belonged to the Cistercian abbey of Zwettl — according to the estate’s own chronicle, the abbey’s monks had already been given vineyard land on the Heiligenstein and the Gaisberg in 1171. Since 1996 the Moosbrugger family has run the wine estate on a long-term lease.

Gobelsburg lies on the B34 Kamptalstraße, between Langenlois and Hadersdorf am Kamp; the castle stands in the village on Schlossstraße. When you book, tell us what time your tour begins, and we will plan your pickup around it.
